Overview
The “Orientation” portion of this training will address Tarrant County MRC administrative processes (i.e., registration, application procedures, training requirements) and will familiarize you with the Tarrant County MRC and help prepare you for your role with the MRC.
The “Point of Dispensing” portion of this training will provide you with an understanding of what a POD is, how it operates, and Tarrant County POD activation procedures.
Target Audience:
This training is required for all Tarrant County MRC volunteers. This course is also appropriate for anyone who might be asked to work in a public health POD, including public health staff, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) team members, or other volunteers.
Objectives:
After completing this course, you will be able to:
- List the requirements for participation in the Tarrant County MRC
- List volunteer responsibilities
- List minimum training requirements for Tarrant County MRC volunteers
- List liability protection laws that protect volunteers from civil liability
- List the purpose and goals of Point of Dispensing (POD) sites
- Describe the Strategic National Stockpile and its role during mass prophylaxis
- Describe Tarrant County POD activation procedures
- List appropriate safety measures to prevent accidents while working in a POD.
- List effective methods for preventing and dealing with workplace violence.
Time:
- It is estimated that this course will take approximately 1.5 hours to complete
Continuing Education Credits (CEUs):
The training is approved for:
- 1.5 Category 1 AMA/PRA Credits
- 1.5 Hours Category 2A, AOA
- 1.5 CNE contact hours
- 0.25 CEUs for Social Workers. Note: 1 clock hour = 0.1 CEU.
